Motorcycle Trip Across America 2014 – Day 28: Gonna get some NYC exposure

Today, I technically complete my mission of going from NY to CA and back to NY. I will be staying with friends for the next two nights. One night in Brooklyn, one night in Queens. From there, I’ll be heading home for the first time in a month.

It rained heavily last night. My tenth engineering paid off, not a drop got in the tent! I still want to replace the pole though. This is incredibly inconvenient and annoying to disassemble.

My goal for today is to pop into Philadelphia for a cheesesteak, then find my way to Brooklyn around 5, so I can take my sweet time. Checkout time here is also at 3 so I have all the time in the world.

On my way out, I was offered a coffee by my neighboring campsite. They wished me luck in the rain.

Its the little things like this that make me appreciative of camping.

Moving onwards, I hit some torrential downpours. I was soaked in seconds.

Not fun. I took shelter under a bridge to put on the rainguard, but it was too late. At least it stopped some evaporation if water.

After the weather let up, I got to my favorite food place of all time, Pat’s King of Steaks and got this beauty:

Since I want to arrive in Brooklyn around 5, I’m going to zip around in the city for an hour or so, then hit the road to New York.

Got into Brooklyn after some seriously horrible rain. Met up with my friend Adam. I’m staying there until tomorrow for a friend’s birthday party. Taking it easy tonight.
